REPORT OF THE GREEN ROOM AGM
To the 200 plus members who were unable to attend this year's AGM held on Thursday July 23rd and just in case you wondered what happened here is a report on the evening. The Green Room AGM started about 21:20 with those present being welcomed by the GR Chairman, Stewart Lock, before attacking the Agenda with gusto. Apologies were given for those unable to be there... about 20 names... nowhere near the 200 plus members who couldn't be bothered. Last year's Minutes were agreed and signed. Now it gets really exciting the Chairman gave his report.... During the past year the GR had been busy organising many and varied events like Wine Tasting, Chinese New Year ish, Christmas Carol evening, Murder Mystery dinner, Play readings, Painting Evenings as well as manning the bar on Fridays, Sundays, play nights and private hires. You know all those times when you have missed a really good evening by not being there. Stewart went on the thank those who had helped the GR perform its duties. Sally MaCrae -welfare, Andy Lock - pipe cleaning, John Miller - play readings, the 20 or so regular attendees at our events and the Green Room Committee for their support. Stewart also mentioned that his enthusiasm waned after the lack of response to many of these events but ended on a cheerful note that he would only do another three years then someone else can waste their energy. The Treasurer, Eric Jenner, then presented the Accounts which were duly accepted. The election of Officers and Committee came next. Stewart Lock was re-elected as Chairman and Ann Moon and Vicky Mills were re-elected to the committee. There being no other business the meeting was closed and thrown open to the floor where a request for another Golf Tournament was made. Stewart explained that this was on the agenda for the next year. The meeting adjourned to the bar shortly after 22:00 for refreshments.
This may not be the most exciting of evenings but the business end of the Ifield Barn Theatre is of extreme importance and does require your attendance. Please come and support us and help keep the IBTS going. Next year's AGM will be on 22nd July.
STEWART LOCK
Wednesday 7th to Saturday 10th October. At 7.30 The Winter’s Tale by William Shakespeare Directed by Jess Knight and Jack Mallinson Come and see this unusual and exciting play. Key scenes include the trial of a queen, the jealous rages of her husband, a sheep-sharing feast and dancing, and young love threatened by an angry father. One famous stage direction reads, “Exit, pursued by bear”. The character is then eaten alive. The final scene is often described as the most moving in all Shakespeare. An evening not to be missed.
