Ifield Barn Theatre Society Barn Publicity: vacant post. Cathy Chamberlin has organised our publicity – for productions and everything else we do – for twenty-five years. It has been a wonderful record of efficiency and attention to detail but she wants to hand over. We are all in her debt. If you are interested please contact Jack Mallinson on 01293 533365 or jackmallinson176@btinternet.com. He will pass your name on to Cathy, so she can explain exactly what she does. The job brings you into contact with all the movers and shakers of the society. A plum role!
Chaperones needed
Chaperones are required to look after young people under the age of 14, who are performing on our stage.
Our immediate need is for the Pantomime "Aladdin".
Volunteers need to attend a half-day course somewhere in West Sussex, (but it could be Centenary House in Crawley)
Applicants should e-mail our Child Protection Officer, Steve Mills, as soon as possible.
His telephone number is: 01293 - 536600, and e-mail address: steve.mills@tiscali.co.uk
Office Manager required
We are looking for a new Office Manager. David Waters has been doing this work but is now heavily occupied in being our Chairman. This is not a difficult job. It requires someone tidy with office skills. A copy of the job description is pinned to the Exhibition Room panel.

STAN MARK
It is with great sadness that the Barn reports the death of Stan Mark. Stan, along with his wife Vera, were great supporters of the Barn before moving down to Poole. Both were possessed with a great capacity to laugh and enjoyed their life and although small in stature, if generosity and openness of heart were measured, then both were giants amongst their fellows.
Both are sadly missed and we send our deepest sympathy to those who loved them
The fictional town of Cranford is closely modelled on Knutsford in Cheshire, which Mrs Gaskell knew well. The book has little in the way of plot and is more a series of episodes in the lives of Mary Smith and her friends, Miss Matty and Miss Deborah, two spinster sisters. The "major" event in the story is the return to Cranford of their long-lost brother, Peter, which in itself is only a minor portion of the work, leaving the rest of the novel at a low-key tone.
