Cider with Rosie
Written by Laurie Lee and adapted for the stage by James Roose-Evans
Performances at the Barn on March 3, 4, 5 and 7
Poet Laurie Lee was born in 1914 and grew up in a small Cotswold village during a time of change when the rural traditions of past centuries were being swept aside in the path of twentieth century progress.
His autobiography ‘Cider with Rosie’ became a modern classic and has sold over four million copies.
James Roose-Evans has skilfully and imaginatively recreated Laurie Lee’s poetic evocation of his childhood for the stage. Stunning in his simplicity, the cast of eight actors and actresses play twenty-four characters in a setting created by the barn.
Please come enjoy this original evening of theatre at the Barn.
The bar at the Barn is staffed by volunteers and more people are needed to help with this The bar is open Friday evenings and Sunday lunchtimes as well as on performance nights. If you feel you would like to help behind the bar please contact Vicky Mills on 01293 536600 Full training will be given.
Sunday lunches We are always looking for volunteers to help with lunches in many different ways. If you are able to clear tables, wash and iron the tablecloths, act as a kitchen manager to check cleanliness and replenish stocks of cleaning materials etc or you would like to help cook a lunch, we would love to hear from you. You would only be asked to help occasionally to spread the load amongst more of our members. We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you at the lunches.

A Play on Words
May Day Fayre Preparation
If you are a regular visitor to the May Day Fayre you will not have failed to notice that the area around the theatre and the church is transformed by tents and gazebos, bunting and stalls. This does not occur by magic and a willing band of volunteers work extremely hard to make it happen. As always many hands make light work so more people are needed. We will be beginning our preparation on Friday 1 May and on Sunday 3 May. Please come along and help if you can. If you can help by manning a stall, even for an hour, or need further information, please contact Margaret Jenner on 01293 537914
